Shaggy Dog is designed to guide aspiring local filmmakers through the process of creating short, dramatic films using professional screenwriting and filmmaking techniques. The program is based on the premise that learning is best accomplished by doing.
Stories are selected from ideas submitted by class members. The ideas are then developed into short (5 to 10 page) screenplays. From those screenplays that qualify, short (5 to 10 minute) films are produced with class members serving as the production crew. The goal is to provide the total filmmaking experience, from basic-idea-to-finished-film. Emphasis is on humorous stories with surprise or twist endings.
Membership is subject to approval by the Executive Directors, Neal Miller (www.rubicon-films.com) and Tom Blank. Classes meet Saturdays 9:00am to Noon. The fee is $40 per 4-week class cycle. Financial assistance is available on a limited basis via special arrangement with Neal Miller.
The Shaggy Dog Project films will premier at the Eugene International Film Festival http://www.eugenefilmfest.org/ on Sunday Oct 23, at 4pm. Regal Theaters are at the rear of Valley River Center.
You can purchase tickets at the door ($8.00) or online through Brown Paper Tickets (BPT) for a small service fee.
https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/203287 BPT is authorized to sell only 180 tickets and a full house is expected.
